Applications

ASKO Continuous Caster Knives crop the head and tail ends, or divide and cut-to-length continuously cast shapes whether slab, thin slab, strip, billet, bloom, or bar. They also remove the dross or beard that develops on the edge of continuously cast slabs. They are used between the caster delivery section and the first rolling mill stand, tunnel, or re-heat furnace. They typically operate at temperatures in excess of 1800ºF/1000ºC and may be used without or with indirect coolant.

Grades

ASKO Continuous Caster Knives are custom manufactured and specially engineered for high temperature environments. They are available in a range of hot work tool steel grades and super alloy grades matched to the requirements of each application.

ASKO Continuous Caster Knives are available in a range of designs. ASKO produces knives to mill builder designs, user modified designs, and in special situations can offer design advice for improved performance.
